Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast

Some moments are just too magical not to share.

The gorgeous humans brought every fluffy treasure their little arms could carry and constructed a monument of fluff in the family room. We all chose a spot on the monument to lay our heads, and after some debate, we agreed upon on the cinema selection - Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. It is a fantastic movie - Tim Burton (and Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp!) never disappoint.

That was Friday night. The magic happened Saturday at just about 4:00 in the afternoon.

Exhausted from a day of using our bodies as the good Lord intended - hard work cleaning out under the house - we jumped in the car for a short ride. With the windows down and our hair blazing behind us, my son sitting shotgun said, "Sometimes, I believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast. Come on mom, you start".

It was one of those moments, the magical ones that you want to hold forever - but can't - so you just insert a maxima pause in the great symphony of your life.

"One", I started, "there is a potion that can make you shrink".

He smiled at me and continued, "And a cake that can make you grow".

"Animals can talk", I recounted. The magic was growing. The littles in the seat behind us were silent and attentive, as though we were re-telling the creation stories of our ancestors.

"Four, cats can disappear."

"Five, there is a place called Wonderland".

"Six", in jubilant chorus we all declared, "I CAN SLAY THE JABBERWOCKY!".

There it was before us all, a great teachable moment that would change the course of our epic collective journey.

"Bub", I asked him, "tell me six impossible things".

He told me about a world with no more cars, people who could fly, and concluded with resolute belief, "And we can end global warming". This is the same gorgeous human who told me at age 3 that the way to get to heaven was to love God and plant trees.

This. Is. Huge. And even more important-er than multiplication and spelling. Six impossible things before breakfast. Do you realize how life will change? How reality will change? How empowered, and innovative and creative our life will be if we incorporate this practice (originally shared by the White Queen to a young Alice).

See beyond the obvious.

Consider an existence without limitations.

Believe in the impossible.

And no matter what you are facing, always remember -

You can slay the Jabberwocky.
