Leadership looks weird. 

Leaders create what doesn’t yet exist by doing things that are not normal. And for those who like living in the normal world that exists – the behavior, ideas, and perspective of a leader – is weird.

 

Which is why, oftentimes,
Leadership feels like loneliness.
And smells like fear.

 

Leadership sounds like silence. 
Leaders allow the empty heaviness of silence to raise the authentic voice of others, and ask questions that recognize the genius and “right answer” and imagination of others.

 

And,

Leadership tastes like dirt.
Leaders take chances, and at times, fall flat on their face, and,
With no task too lowly, Leaders are not afraid to get dirty and work alongside all others.
